Message of managers

The present world must be run by those individuals who can steer through any developments, not those affected by the developments. In the modern and advanced world of today in which the countries are joining globalization trend, maritime transportation is of a special position. At present, nearly 90% of the total global trade is carried out by sea and through 6500 piers, including oil or non-oil terminals. It follows that ports worldwide play a vital role as the main gates of arrival or departure of commodities and a key loop in the chain of goods supply so that the growth and development of other sectors are pinned to them. Nowadays, third generation ports are thriving while first and second generation ports are becoming a vestige of times gone by or their days are numbered. Manufacture of modern, high-speed vessels, construction of third generation ports worldwide, arrival of new containers in shipping lines, reduction in costs of maritime transportation, expedition of loading or unloading operation in ports, and competitiveness of ports worldwide all attest to the fact that the man in the third millennium has built a different world for himself and the posterity, taking lessons from his ancestors. Accordingly, as people involved in petrochemical affairs, we and our dear colleagues must acknowledge that the phenomenon of change is essential and inevitable and that dynamic, live and advancing organizations are those who not only embrace change, but also bring about change.
